ECONOMY AND DYNAMICS IN THE DOURO

Douro Conferences 2018 | Autumn Conference | Stakeholders Forum | CETRAD

UTAD and Fundação Maria Rosa

FRAMEWORK AND OBJECTIVES

The Douro Conferences 2018, developed under the Protocol of Cultural, Scientific and Pedagogical Cooperation between the Foundation Maria Rosa and UTAD, are organized in two events, Spring Meetings and Autumn Conference, both of interdisciplinary nature, that they intend to explore and interrogate the relationship between human activity, environment and the construction of the landscape in the Douro region, crossing the perspectives of the social sciences and the arts. Currently, there is much discussion of the ways of inhabiting and producing places, of the relationships between people and everything else to identify identities and heritage that are not just material. The senses, the unspeakable, the memory, the knowledge, the inscription of these in the places, in the ways of doing help us to think of the territory as inhabited space and built over time and always in permanent update. Also the Douro, as an inhabited, felt, experienced space, reveals a story in continuous transformation. The two events aim to exploit the potentialities present in the territory for new contemporary sociocultural productions and for the emergence of new horizons of meanings.

The Autumn Conference, under the umbrella of CETRAD and coinciding with its 2nd Forum of Stakeholders, is dedicated to the "Economy and Demographic Dynamics in the Douro" and intends to constitute itself as a space of collaboration in the cultural, scientific and pedagogical fields, between the CETRAD and its different Stakeholders of the territory, around four themes - Territorial resources; Products and markets; Tourism (s) and Development; and Multiple Looks over the Douro.
