The following functions are of the responsibility of the General Secretariat for Employment as the superior body of the Councilor for Economy, Employment and Industry of Galicia:
- Participation in the development of employment strategies and annual employment policy plans, as well as the formulation of proposals for the inclusion of concrete measures and programs.
- The direction, coordination, control and execution of the Autonomous Community's competences in matters of employment, labor relations, occupational safety and health, corporate social responsibility, cooperatives and other social economy entities and, specifically, Labor legislation and the prevention of occupational hazards.
- The promotion and development of labor equality policies and measures to reconcile personal, family and work life in companies.
- Functional competences on Labor Inspection and Social Security in labor matters and on the prevention of occupational risks associated with the Autonomous Community of Galicia, as well as coordination with the General State Administration for the implementation of the Labor Inspection action plans And Social Security.
- The direction, coordination, control and execution of the Autonomous Community's competences attributed to the counselor in the areas of employment promotion, support for self-employment and labor integration of people with disabilities or in situations of vulnerability.
- Coordination of the management and supervision of the operation of the centers, both owned and dependent by other entities, as well as the provision of technical assistance necessary for the proper development of its activities, without prejudice to the competencies assigned to the Technical General Secretariat.
