The Public University of Navarre is the second largest university in number of students existing in Navarre, Spain. The UPNA was created in 1987 by the Parliament of Navarre, at the initiative of the then socialist government of Gabriel Urralburu, with the aim of expanding the offer of existing higher education courses and bringing together higher education establishments spread out in public centers that until then had been coordinating insufficient. Teaching and research at the Public University of Navarra is organized around 4 colleges, 2 schools and 11 departments. UPNA also has specific infrastructure for research activities. The largest campus, Arrosadía, located in the south of Pamplona, is where most of the courses work. Currently, UPNA has 26 courses and 30 postgraduate programs in 2 faculties (Economic and Business Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences), 2 higher schools (Agricultural Engineers, Industrial and Telecommunication Engineers) and a university school (Health Studies).
