It is a project for Scientific Research and Technological Development (http://www.dourotur.utad.pt/), funded by Portugal´s Norte2020 at 679 793.00 euros, aims to increase the systemic and holistic understanding of the supply and demand of tourism products and services in the Douro (declared by UNESCO World Heritage site as cultural landscape in 2001), evaluate communication strategies and set priorities to improve digital marketing, coordination and coordinated organization of tourism in the Douro region and the construction of a more sustainable, durable and responsible tourism. The project focused on the Douro and Tourism, is structured in four interconnected lines: 1) to analyze the tourist supply, 2) to investigate the image and tourist narratives; 3) analyze the demand and the social, cultural, economic and environmental effects of tourism; 4) develop digital marketing tools to support the growth of tourism that aims to responsible and sustainable. The project spans three years, mainly involves researchers from UTAD, most of CETRAD and some of the engineering department.
